Mt.YUANRUIYANG is the world's first LNG dual-fuel VLCC tailored by COSCO Shipping and China state Shipbuilding relying on the scientific research projects supported by the state,province and city. Its successful delivery marks that COSCO Shipping has been at the forefront of the world in the application of green, environmental protection and energy-saving technologies for large oil tankers, and It also marks a breakthrough made by China state Shipbuilding in the field of large clean energy power ship technology. In the context of global energy transformation, COSCO Shipping Energy and DSIC promote the application of LNG as the main fuel on VLCC, which will play a positive demonstration and leading role in energy conservation and emission reduction of large ships and promoting the implementation of the goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutralization" in the shipping industry.
Mt.YUANRUIYANG is designed to have total length of 333 meters, width of 60 meters and depth of 30.5 meters. LNG is used as the main fuel, equipped with LNG dual-fuel main engine, generator and boiler. It is classified into CCS single class and awarded with additional marks of Natural GasFuel. The ship meets the requirements of the third stage of ship energy efficiency design index EEDI, sulfur oxide emission reduction of 99%, particulate matter emission reduction of 98%, and nitrogen oxide emission meets the most stringent Tier III requirements of the IMO. The structural design meets the Harmonized Common Structural Code, provides a list of hazardous substances in accordance with EU regulations, and meets CCS's smart energy efficiency symbol i-Ship(E) requirements.

In 2019, DSIC released the conceptual design of the world's first "c-future" 23000 container class super large container ship powered by liquid ammonia at Shanghai Maritime Exhibition. In 2020, the research and development and risk assessment of liquid ammonia powered VLCC zero-carbon ship type were completed, and ABS and CCSAIP in principle certificates were obtained respectively. On February 17, 2022, the green methanol fuel-powered VLCC ship type design scheme jointly developed by DISC and COSCO SHIPPING energy obtained the AIP in principle approval certificate independently issued by DNV and CCS. On February 25, 2022, the liquid ammonia powered 210000 ton bulk carrier type design scheme obtained the AIP principle approval certificate issued by the British LR Classification Society, which will continue to help the shipping industry's "zero carbon" future savings.
CCS said that the successful delivery of Yuan RuiYang is another important application achievement made by CCS under the promotion of shipping greenhouse gas emission reduction and China's "Double Carbon" strategic goal, which marks a new breakthrough in the technical service of large clean energy power ships and the application of LNG as the main fuel on super large crude oil ships, It is also a new chapter written by CCS in accelerating the construction of a transportation power and promoting the construction of an international leading classification society. For more than ten years, CCS has been committed to the technical research and development of natural gas fueled ships, the construction of standards system and the improvement of service capacity, which has provided strong technical support and guarantee for the independent design, construction and safe operation of natural gas fueled ships in China. facing the new round of clean energy technology reform, CCS will always adhere to the service concept of "safety, environmental protection and creating value for customers and society". The ship adopts the latest line developed by DSIC and is equipped with a large-scale high-efficiency propeller with a diameter of 10.6 meters suitable for the ship. The overall performance of the ship is excellent. Under the conditions of design draft and service speed of 15 knots, in the gas mode, the endurance of the ship can reach 12000 nautical miles, the total endurance of fuel and gas is 24000 nautical miles, and the design energy efficiency index EEDI is about 39% lower than the baseline value.
For the first time, the ship adopts domestic corrosion-resistant steel plate meeting IMO requirements to replace PSPC coating protection. The application scope covers the bottom of all cargo tank areas and the top of No. 1 cargo oil tank, so as to realize the real ship engineering application of domestic corrosion-resistant steel, fill the domestic gap, reduce the amount of paint by about 20000 liters, greatly reduce the coating area of real ship construction, reduce environmental pollution and have good ecological benefits, Effectively improve on-site production efficiency. During the construction process, we have achieved independent research on many engineering application difficulties such as cutting, welding, assembly and inspection of corrosion-resistant steel, formed a complete technical system for batch production and engineering application of marine corrosion-resistant steel in China, improved the international competitiveness of high-end marine steel, and provided guarantee for the implementation of the strategy of "national oil transportation and national shipbuilding".
The LNG storage system adopts the design of C-type storage tank, and a LNG filling station with C-type 3500 m3 LNG cryogenic storage tank as the main body is set on the port and starboard respectively, with a filling rate of 1500 m3 / h, which is convenient for the owner's filling operation. The project breaks through the independent design, high-precision construction, tank assembly and test technology of LNG cryogenic C-type storage tank.
