At 08:30 on January 8, 2023, MT YUANQIUHU of COSCO SHIPPING Energy loaded with about 255,000 tons of crude oil steadily berthed at the 300,000-ton tanker terminal in Qinzhou Port thanks to the close cooperation between the crew, wharf workers, and the pilot, setting a record of the Company's vessel berthing at the terminal with a draft of 19.5 meters.
In order to successfully complete this task, COSCO SHIPPING Energy attached great importance to it. Leaders of the Company led the safety management team, the VLCC operation team, and the relevant leaders of the charterer China National United Oil to conduct seminars, jointly studied and decided on the berthing plan of MT YUANQIUHU with a draft of 19.5 meters, conducted risk assessment, implemented pre-control measures, provided guarantee and support in terms of capacity guarantee, smooth transportation, and terminal operation safety, and made every effort to do a good job before arrival and operation. The Company carried out preparatory work in advance, carefully formulated various plans, always maintained close contact with the port, the wharf, the pilot, and the charter, strengthened coordination and communication and shared information with all parties, and effectively avoid various risks. Before berthing, a special drill was also organized to further verify the reliability of the plan and the effectiveness of the berthing and unberthing plans. Finally, MT YUANQIUHU was planned to enter the port and berth at the high-tide hour on the morning of January 8, 2023.
The successful berthing of the vessel with a deep draft of 19.5 meters at Qinzhou Port provided reference for other VLCC berthing at a deep draft in the future, fully reflected the excellent ability of crew from COSCO SHIPPING Energy and the awareness of providing quality services to charterers, and demonstrated the comprehensive strength of COSCO SHIPPING Energy as an international first-class energy transportation fleet.
