On January 13, COSCO SHIPPING Energy, joining hands with PetroChina International and CSSC Shipping, held a signing ceremony for LNG carrier MULAN leasing agreement in Shanghai to witness the launch of a new model of LNG shipping business cooperation. Attendees of the signing ceremony included Zhong Jian, Chairman of CSSC Shipping, Li Xi, General Manager of CSSC Shipping, Wang Haiyan, Deputy General Manager of PetroChina International and Zhu Maijin, Managing Director of COSCO SHIPPING Energy.
Teng Fei, Deputy General Manager of CSSC Shipping, and Qin Jiong, Deputy General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING Energy jointly signed a Bareboat Charter Party for LNG carrier MULAN. Wang Haiyan, Deputy General Manager of PetroChina International, and Qin Jiong, Deputy General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING Energy jointly signed the long-term time charter party for MULAN.
At the beginning of the new year, the three central SOEs joined forces to introduce new approaches in LNG business cooperation, which deeply integrates the three supply chain sectors of trade, finance, and shipping, locking in long-term capacity through long-term charter parties, fulfilling the mission of the three central SOEs to promote high-quality sustainable development, thus demonstrating their determination to serve the green transformation and development and highlighting innovative ideas to ensure the resilience and safety of the LNG industry chain and supply chain.
Relevant personnel from COSCO SHIPPING Energy, CSSC Shipping, PetroChina International, and other units participated in the signing ceremony.
Ship introduction: LNG carrier MULAN was the fifth of the new generation Series CHANGXING of 174000-m3 LNG carriers built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, and was delivered in August 2021. This type of LNG carrier adopts a NO96L03+ cargo containment system, with a daily LNG evaporation rate as low as 0.1% per day. Equipped with advanced nitrogen removal devices, it can meet the most stringent emission standards of the International Maritime Organization whether operating in gas mode or fuel oil mode. It has reached a world-class level in terms of technical performance, environmental indicators, and reliability.
