On September 22, COSCO SHIPPING Energy held the 5th Shanghai International LNG Shipping Forum, Tanker Salon, and CHINA POOL 2023 Business/Technical Meeting during the 2023 Annual Partner Meeting.
On the morning of September 22, COSCO SHIPPING Energy, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, and China Merchants Energy Shipping co-organized the 5th Shanghai International LNG Shipping Forum. Leaders from the three parties delivered speeches. The forum invited experts from Shanghai Petroleum and Natural Gas Exchange, Lloyd's Register, GTT, COSCO SHIPPING Captive Insurance, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, COSCO SHIPPING LNG (Hong Kong) Ship Management, and Marautec to deliver keynote speeches. Guests discussed how to promote innovation and cooperation and create new values around topics such as global natural gas demand, green and low-carbon development, resource security, LNG spot shipping management, development trends of ship insurance, and digital intelligence-enabled shipping. The forum reached three points of consensus: First, strengthen industrial cooperation and jointly maintain the stability of the LNG supply chain. Second, lead the digital transformation of the industry and improve the safety standard of LNG shipping. Thirdly, drive the application of new technology for energy efficiency and promote the low-carbon development of LNG transportation.
On the morning of September 22, the Tanker Salon was held with the theme of "Deepen Cooperation to Promote Mutual Benefit and Win-Win and Drive the High-Quality Development of Oil Transportation". The Tanker Salon invited experts from COSCO SHIPPING Energy, CNPC Economics & Technology Research Institute, China Classification Society, and Clarksons to deliver keynote speeches focusing on the overall security concept of energy and production and operation practice, the prospect of the oil industry under the trend of energy transformation, the development trend and choice of marine fuel under the background of the IMO's emission reduction strategy, and the development trend of the global oil transportation industry in the future under the background of "emission peak and carbon neutrality" and energy security. Roundtable discussions were held on the topics of "Oil Transportation Community under Energy Supply Chain Security" and "Impacts on the next generation marine fuel by MEPC 80 2023 IMO Strategy on Reduction of GHG Emissions from Ships and countermeasures".
In the afternoon, CHINA POOL 2023 Business/Technical Meeting was held. The meeting reviewed and predicted the oil transportation market, introduced CHINA POOL's business operation and strategy, ship operation monitoring and management, analyzed the new greenhouse gas emission regulations, and discussed ways to cope with them.
