COSCO SHIPPING Energy Placed Orders For Multiple Oil Tankers

On December 29th, COSCO SHIPPING Energy and COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) and COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Dalian), subsidiaries of COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry, signed construction contracts in Shanghai for three 114,000-ton Aframax Green Methanol Dual-Fuel Crude Oil Carriers, two Panamax Crude Oil Carriers (Methanol Ready), and one MR Refined Oil/Crude Oil Carrier (Methanol Ready).

 

In alignment with the State and the Group's "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" strategic planning, and in response to the emerging trends of green, low-carbon, and intelligent development within the Group, COSCO SHIPPING Energy has taken proactive steps to advance the construction of a clean-fueled fleet. This includes a commitment to building a clean-fueled fleet and responding to future competition. As part of this effort, the company has placed orders for new energy vessels that align with customer preferences for green and low-carbon solutions. The 114,000-tonne Aframax Green Methanol Dual-Fuel Crude Oil Carrier, measuring 248.8 meters in length, 44 meters in breadth, and 21.5 meters in depth, represents a significant milestone as the first methanol dual-fuel tanker ordered by COSCO SHIPPING Energy. The 65,000-ton Panamax Crude Oil Carrier boasts dimensions of 224.9 meters in length, 38 meters in breadth, and 18 meters in depth. Similarly, the MR Refined Oil/Crude Oil Carrier, with a length of 182.9 meters, a breadth of 32.26 meters, and a depth of 18.2 meters. Both types of vessels have considered Methanol Ready capabilities, allowing for future retrofitting. Moreover, these vessels are equipped to burn biofuel in addition to other fuel options.
